Adult Learning provides a range of skills, qualifications and informal learning opportunities across Norfolk for young people and adults, funded through external grants and fee income.


The service’s vision is closely aligned to Norfolk County Council’s Together for Norfolk 6-year plan and Putting People First strategy, which prioritises: inclusive growth, improved social mobility, excellence in education, real jobs, good infrastructure and supporting vulnerable people.

As part of this strategy, an exciting opportunity has arisen for tutors to deliver non-accredited courses within the Community Curriculum areas.


Family Learning Schools – you will be teaching adults over the age of 16 with the responsibility for a child (ren) and you will be qualified in the National Curriculum Key Stage 1 and/or 2. Our courses range from “Bedtime stories for 4 to 7 year olds” to “Learning through Art – Science and Nature – KS2”. Some early evening and weekend working may be required.

You will ………


Hold recognised professional qualifications and be an experienced practitioner in the National Curriculum at Key Stage1 and/or Key Stage 2.

Be able to deliver a course in line with a school’s literacy and/or numeracy policy.

Be able to apply your skills and knowledge in teaching joint time sessions (adult and child stay together) and sessions with adults only.

Be prepared to offer your subject as a series of 5 weekly sessions and one-off taster sessions, online and face to face. Opportunities for longer courses (up to 10 weeks) may be available.

Be flexible in your approach. We are particularly interested to hear from tutors who can deliver their discipline in community settings across Norfolk. This might mean you live locally or are prepared to travel and be innovative in the way you manage your time and resources. Reasonable travel and expenses will be paid.

Hold a relevant qualification for teaching adults or be prepared to work towards one.
