Are you passionate about people and ensuring a positive culture is at the heart of an organisation? We are looking for Trustee who specialises in HR!

We’re here to create a world where everyone matters, building brighter futures for people within the health and social care sector through our family of organisations. For more information on our vision and values, please visit our website. We are proudly and actively anti-racist and as such you are expected to drive the agenda forward.

We are looking for a Trustee to join our high performing board and the occasional need to provide expert advice and guidance to the leadership team on specific issues and projects. As a trustee, you will play an integral part in the good governance of the charity and support and influence the management of Inspire North. We would encourage you to apply for this dynamic role, we’re particularly looking for:

  • An individual that is committed to ensuring highest standards of governance in policies and practice related to employment.

  • A substantial background as a senior HR professional, with proven track record of success at an operational and strategic level

  • Support with the long-term vision and strategic direction for investment in People at Inspire North

  • Experience in ensuring that the HR functions of the organisation are conducted within legal requirements and best practice

  • A passion for Diversity and Inclusion

We now hold our meetings in a hybrid setting with some trustees attending in person and some attending virtually via Microsoft Teams (Head Office based in Seacroft, Leeds). This opens up the opportunity to have trustees who live and work across England. We only ask you attend our 2 annual board away days in person to give everyone a chance to meet each other in the real world. Reasonable travel expenses will of course be reimbursed.

We’re keen to increase the diversity of our Board and would particularly welcome applications if you are from an underrepresented group or have lived experience in the areas where we work i.e. mental health, homelessness or domestic violence. You’ll have a deep commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and be keen to support our commitment to our Anti-Racism Strategy.

Potential trustees must be eligible in line with Charity Commission regulations which are available from www.charitycommission.gov.uk. Trustee commitment: You will need to be able to commit to approximately 1 day each month max. This includes meetings, reading papers, board away day etc. The Board meets quarterly; and you will sit on one of our 3 sub-committees.

If you are excited by our work, share our values, and want to play an active part in the work of our Board, we want to hear from you!

If you’d like more info on the role, please contact our Strategic Governance Lead at or call 0113 273 9670. Helen can support arranging an informal chat with our Chief Executive, Ruth Kettle.

There are two ways you can express your interest in becoming a trustee.

  • Complete the online application through our website: https://www.inspirenorth.co.uk/careers/our-vacancies/

  • Send us your CV and our application form to our Strategic Governance Lead, Helen Isabella Ferguson: . We encourage you to apply early as your application will be reviewed as soon as it is received.

If successful, we will be in touch to arrange an interview at a mutually convenient time. This can be virtual if required. We look forward to hearing from interested applicants!

Good Luck!
