Trials Manager (Electrical Engineering)

Would you like to play a key role within assurance, conducting inspections and producing relevant documentation on electrical engineering? We currently have a vacancy for a Trials Manager (Electrical Engineering) at our site in Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a Trials Manager (Electrical Engineering), you will be responsible for the compilation of all Assurance Documentation (particular attention to the electrical aspects), carrying out and reporting on inspections ensuring completion of all relevant certification and commissioning records for new design solutions and equipment/systems listed for maintenance and defect rectification onboard Type 45 Destroyers, Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers, Type 23 Frigates and HUNT class mine hunters.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a varied role, with exposure to a range of projects (including international). You will have individual responsibility working with technical authorities, giving you exposure to wider opportunities and support for advancement.

Your main responsibilities as a Trials Manager (Electrical Engineering) will involve:
  • Conducting Safe Systems of Work that always comply with the company SHE procedures
  • Demonstrating an understanding of design principles to ensure the detailed compilation of Assurance Documentation to reflect the customer’s requirement in accordance with PAG process
  • Understanding all engineering disciplines, specialising in the Electrical tasks from design documentation and existing ship’s fit for specific maintenance/defect repair procedures; detailing the pass/fail criteria as necessary
  • Compiling, collating, and presenting to any customer inspecting authority the portfolio of evidence containing all Assurance Documentation
  • Applying knowledge, skill, and experience to resolve issues associated with the design and outfitting of Marine Engineering equipment and systems, providing expert electrical knowledge to peers.
  • Providing best practice guidance to a Project’s Team and other external authorities.
  • Inspecting and presenting detailed reports to advise project teams on all aspects of ME Equipment and Systems
  • Providing information and technical advice to assist with the estimation and compilation of the Trial Ownership Matrix to enable the timelines to be co-herent for the work package schedules
Essential

Your skills and qualifications:
  • HNC/HND or has completed a recognised apprenticeship with time for experience in an Engineering discipline (preferably electrical background)
  • Detailed knowledge of the design criteria of Electrical aspects of the Marine Engineering (ME) Equipment and Systems and a detailed understanding of both the Mechanical and Constructive elements for the material and operational requirements
  • Requires knowledge and practical experience in maintenance and defect repair operations of all ME equipment and systems
  • Working knowledge of all RN (Royal Navy) platforms and their associated systems in all disciplines of mechanical, electrical, and constructive elements
Desirable
  • Must be aware of all equipment and system updates and initiatives
  • Have a knowledge of the principal customers assurance requirements for platforms in deep maintenance

Salary: Up to £41,950 depending on experience
