Our team in Bristol currently has an opening for a Transport Planner
YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose of Position
To effectively run the depot transport operations and contribute to achieving and maximising agreed budgeted EBITDA.
The successful management of all transport matters, personnel, health and safety, and fleet.
Responsibilities / Accountability
To assist and contribute to:-
To effectively route deliveries so as to fully utilise the depot fleet to maximum efficiency.
Contribute to the delivery of EBITDA targets, cash flow and budgets, through a reduction in waste and third party haulage.
Organise and control the effective supervision of all transport key activities within the depot against the targets set.
Monitor and control of driver hours.
Monitor driver infringements and use corrective actions, where necessary.
Confirm drivers maintain regular vehicle checks.
Book and monitor regular vehicular inspections and services.
Use Samsara tracker system to maximise fleet efficiency.
Route fleet to maximise Transend paperless delivery system.
Monitor and co-ordinate the completion of ’transport paperwork’ (delivery notes, epods, etc.).
Book-in to customer sites.
Organise tail lift inspections.
Organise third-party haulage (recording into associated database).
Ensure transport activities operate within company policy and legal requirements at all times.
Ensure Depot operates within the stated company quality assurance procedures.
Ensure the regular monitoring and delivery of customer service targets (OTIF).
Undertake any reasonable tasks or duties assigned by the appropriate line managers from time to time, related to the effective and efficient performance of the job, and providing they are within the post holders skills and ability.
YOUR PROFILE
CPC Certificate - Essential
Appropriate Health and Safety qualification – IOSH, COSHH - Desirable
Previous supervisory experience desirable
Experience and knowledge of transport planning for a fast moving distribution company essential. Within the chemical industry would be desirable and highly advantageous.
Skills and Abilities
Organize the day-to-day operations of the depot transport activities.
Problems solve.
Communicate well with all interfaces and build strong relationships.
