Job Title: Transport Planner / Account Handler

Location: Hinkley, Leicestershire

Salary: £28,000 to £33,000 depending on experience

Hours of Work: 8.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday

Our Client is an established Logistics service provider operating Road Transport solutions UK wide and into Europe. They provide a wide range of services through a unique blend of own vehicle operations and an extensive 4PL network of transport partners located in every town and City in the UK. They have built up an extensive pool of resource in every region of the UK and into Europe. From a sprinter van to 44 tonne artic Lorries.

Key Accountabilities
  • Bring on New Hauliers, New accounts and, sub-contractors
  • Gain and keep to best Margins
  • Plan and manage drivers, vehicles and sub-contractors to allocated routes and loads
  • Issue daily instructions and communicate nature of work
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction - keep in regular contact with drivers, and subcontractors
  • Ensure maximum use of resources in a cost-effective manner - Proactively work to reduce late deliveries and missed time slots
  • Minimise fuel costs and maximise driver hours through forward planning, back-loading and identifying areas of cost saving - strong organisational skills
  • Brief and debrief drivers - ensure WTD and Tachograph requirements
  • Keep up to date with current legislation regarding Road Haulage regulations
  • Update company systems to ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure driver requirements are enforced as per plan

Qualifications And Experience
  • Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
  • Must have worked with Sub contractors and Hauliers
  • Excellent geographic knowledge
  • Have good relationships with Haulier networks
  • Essential skills in LGV C&E Driving Licence
  • A good standard of computer literacy, particularly MS Office applications
