The Main Purpose Of The Role

Within this role we are seeking a candidate has a comprehensive understanding of Aurora Foxes and what we offer, including the therapeutic approach to support learning.

You will be required to have a thorough understanding of the assessment process and the relevant documentation required prior to the young person attending the college for assessment. We expect you to also understand the relevant legislation in relation to your role along with working collaboratively, professionally, and effectively with all areas of the organisation as appropriate.

Key Duties
  • To arrange suitable work experience placements for students in liaison with Education, care, and the Hotel.
  • To work collaboratively with the Work Placement Job Coach with supporting students into work placements and at work placements when necessary.
  • To take responsibility for driving students to work placements and keeping up to date with driver checks as required.
  • To source local work experience providers and ensure that new providers are equipped to support and safeguard our students.
  • To ensure that all students are appropriately risk assessed for areas and activities in work experience placements.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with our work placement providers and ensure honest communication about students, including thorough risk assessments and Health and Safety documentation.
  • To support students and parents through Transition out of Aurora Foxes Academy, into employment and supported living.
  • To develop relationships with housing organisations to support the transition into independent living.
  • To liaise with House Team Leaders, students, and parents to ensure that the accommodation sourced will best match the students’ needs and aspirations.
Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.

Successful Candidate Qualities
  • Strong IT skills and an excellent telephone manner.
  • Experience with working with young adults with learning difficulties.
  • Desirable, experience in communicating with social workers and housing associations.
  • Desirable, Careers advice Level 4 but not essential as training available for the right candidate.
  • Desirable good knowledge of the SEND code of practice
  • You will be a team player who is confident self-starter and finisher who can work independently.
  • Desirable, experience of creating and pursuing good transition plans.
