The TJX Europe Distribution Leadership Team is focused on our future and recognises that we can only grow by investing in our people. As a Training Manager based at Walsall PC you will be at the heart of developing the talent of our associates and line managers in our Processing Centres. The development and support you provide will be vital in contributing towards Distribution’s talent strategy.


Responsible for the leadership of the on-site training team, to fulfil recruitment and operational needs. Deliver a consistent onboarding experience for all new hires, including technical, skills and behavioural training. Support the development of the on-site management team, by signposting a range of learning methods to deliver site talent and succession plans.

Responsibilities:


  • Partner with GM, HRBP and Planning Manager to create and deliver the annual strategic site training plan.
  • Ensure site technical training plans are delivered.
  • Manage training FLM and team to ensure site training plans are delivered within KPI’s.
  • Partner with on-site planning team to fulfil site recruitment needs.
  • Ensure on-site training practices and ways of working are adhered to and consistent across sites.
  • Provide technical training and support to new managers, supporting with onboarding. Review and evaluate their progress and identify additional solutions and methods of support, where appropriate, in partnership with line manager.
  • Provide on the job training to close identified technical skills gaps within the management team.
  • Support line managers to create personal development plans (PDPs), to support individuals’ development.
  • Signpost relevant development solutions available for associates and managers, to support personal development needs.
  • Execute the on-site career pathways development programme, for all levels.
  • Develop and maintain a technical skills training matrix for all managers on site.
  • Hold monthly review meetings with General Manager to discuss progress of site training plan and delivery of KPI’s.
  • Partner with other site training managers, to drive consistency with ways of working across sites.
  • Implement any new additions or changes to processes that impact the training function or delivery of training, as required by the business.
  • Provide operational training resource and support, to meet business needs.
  • Ensure all training records for associates and managers are audit compliant.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience


  • Working knowledge at management level of all areas of the Processing Centre.
  • A strong understanding of all Distribution development programmes, with the ability to signpost relevant development solutions, to meet individual needs.
  • A proven working knowledge of Health & Safety and legal requirements, within a distribution or processing environment.
  • Experience of and the ability to develop people, through excellent coaching skills.
  • The ability to break down tasks, demonstrate actions and provide coaching to develop skills and performance.
  • An understanding of how people learn, with the ability to adapt style and approach to meet individual learning needs.
  • A knowledge of team dynamics and the effects of a positive working environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to coach, lead and motivate large teams, to deliver results.
  • Experience of working within a set budgetary and performance targeted workplace.
  • The ability to clearly communicate at all levels.
  • Adaptable and self-aware.
  • The ability to make decisions, based on an evaluation of risk, the impact of the decision on all areas and a strong knowledge of ‘off price’ retailing.
  • The ability to influence peers and senior managers.
