About the opportunity:

Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

Jacobs Nuclear provides the front end design and engineering capability across the PPP portfolio. We are currently looking for a Training Co-Ordinator position to join the team in Birchwood.

PPP are looking to harmonise Training, SQEP and competency arrangements across all Lot partner organisations. The successful candidate will provide the lead contact for Lot 2 (Jacobs) and present our requirements to the wider PPP training, SQEP and competence organisation. There will be an opportunity to work across PPP, supporting Lot 2 for Engineering SQEP and Competency whilst providing a comprehensive training service to the portfolio. The PPP contract is designed as a cultural change for Sellafield and Partner arrangements. As can be seen, this role will sit at the heart of enabling that change, with the arrangements put in place needing to span all partners and the client organization.

Reporting to PPP Head of Technical, with guidance from the Resourcing Manager. Supporting the PPP Training Manager.

The role is flexible and exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Provide the lead for training, SQEPing and Competency arrangements and assurance across Lot 2 including Client resources and Sellafield organisation.
  • Interface with all other PPP lot partners, but particularly with the PPP training and SQEP manager who is leading the SQEP and competency harmonisation project,
  • Assist with the Development of a PPP wide SQEP / Competency arrangements and/or system for use by all Lot partners, adhering to Change Control requirements. Manage and coordinate Lot 2 interests in this endeavour.
  • Preparation of and delivery to an estimate and schedule for the scope of works.
  • Represent the interests of Lot 2 and PPP in wider Sellafield, NDA estate and nuclear industry discussions
  • Work with the training co-ordinator to ensure Coordination of required training on the SQEPing and Competency arrangements and support provision.
  • Keep abreast of the similar arrangements across the industry and wider industry to provide guidance on continuous improvement of the PPP arrangements.
  • Work closely with the PPP functions and the resource managers to ensure the PPP arrangements for SQEP and Competency fulfils its full potential.

Qualifications, training, and technical knowledge

  • Experience of developing systems and tracking records for very large teams, e.g. SQEPing, Competency Assurance Systems and training systems - preferred
  • Experience in identification and organisation of technical courses suitable for all learning styles.

  • Good communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent persuasive and influencing skills and the ability to build relationships with people at all levels.
  • Ability to understand procedures and policies of the organisation
