Job IntroductionLandmarc Support Services currently have an exciting opportunity for a Variable Hours, Training Area Operative based in Lulworth, Dorset. This is a flexible role, offering you the opportunity to work around commitments that you already have or it can just be a way of earning some extra money. As a variable hours member of staff we can only guarantee you a minimum of 8 hours a month, and this will usually be early mornings and late evenings and could easily fit in around another job alternatively you may be looking for something to do in your spare time, as this role is very much for someone who enjoys working out on military ranges.
As the Training Area Operative you will be responsible for carrying out any duties within your capability as required to support estate delivery focusing on but not limited to Training Areas and to ensure that the Training Estate Facilities are fit for purpose.
Main Responsibilities
Preparing the military training areas for use
Maintenance of the training area
Grounds maintenance to include ride on mower and use of strimmers
Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training provided)
Some small forestry work
Manufacturing and maintaining targets
Housekeeping
Equipment testing
Driving and operating fleet vehicles
To ensure that the Training Estate Facilities adhere to safe systems of work e.g.:
Control of access
Warning systems including training control offices, radar and flags
Reporting defects
Report and deal with unauthorised persons on the Training Area Estate.
To liaise with all stakeholders to ensure effective training area delivery e.g.:
Handover/ take back of facilities with service users including providing information on ‘maximising’ the facility,
The Employers representatives regarding training area safety and usage
Direct and advise wider training estate users including the general public
Use of IT tablets
The Ideal Candidate
Knowledge of Health and Safety
Knowledge of range assignment instructions and range standing orders (desirable)
Experience of track and fencing maintenance (desirable)
Experience as a range/ training area user (desirable)
Experience of communicating with customers.

Work in a diverse multi-tasking mobile team environment
Basic laboring, caretaking and housekeeping skills
Basic rural, forestry or arborical skills
Demonstrate proven track record of achieving objectives
Ability to complete documentation
Basic IT skills
Be vaccinated against work place risks; keep tetanus and polio vaccinations up to date, and participate in company instigated vaccination programmes where there is a recognised health risk in your role e.g. Hepatitis A and B’
Willingness to undertake training to work in high risk areas e.g. transporting dangerous loads
Capable of supporting a wider team across Landmarc Area SW (East) if required
