The Opportunity Centre, part of the aspire-igen group, iscommitted to helping individuals, organisations and communities succeed through learning and work. We have a strong track record of successfully delivering government funded initiatives and contracts including ESF contracts and Study Programmes. We are also a provider of advice and support services to young people and adults in the Yorkshire and Humber area.

Trainer – Delivering to Aspiring Young Women in work (Part time)
£31,800 per annum (Pro rata £15,900)
18.5hrs per week

Based in York – Delivery Activities Covering the York and North Yorkshire LEP Area

An opportunity has arisen for an experience Trainer to join our aspire2lead team on a part time basis

The main objectives of the role are:


To deliver Level 2 & Level 3 accredited units in Leadership and Development to employed young women with aspirations of achieving a leadership role and to employed women returning to work after a career break.

You will deliver an engaging programme of activity, virtually and face to face, that supports the development of leadership, management, and business skills. Training should also support participants in raising confidence and self-esteem and ultimately lead to progressing more women in work.

Your training offer is part of 12 strands of activity. Aspire2lead delivers a programme of activity that supports Women and SMEs to access and progress women into leadership positions. Other service include; a network of Women Ambassadors who hold senior positions in business, a women’s networking offer and a range of resources and support for SMEs that encourage them to adopt more equality-based values, processes, and structures that help them to attract and keep talented women in their business

We are looking for an experienced trainer qualified to deliver accredited training. As the right candidate you will have an understanding of the barriers women face to progressing in work and be motivated to support their careers progression through skills development.


Although this project is specifically aiming to support women in employment, this vacancy is open to all.

JOB DESCRIPTION


POST TITLE:
Aspiring Young Women Trainer – A2L


The following information is provided to assist candidates joining the A2L team to understand and appreciate the work content of their post and the role they are to play in the project. However, the following points should be noted:

Whilst every endeavour has been made to outline all the duties and responsibilities of the post, a document such as this does not permit every item to be specified in detail. PRIME OBJECTIVES OF THE POST:

  • To assist middle management and supervisory female staff and Owner/Managers of SMEs, aged between 19 and 30, on how to develop leadership, management and business skills and translate these into improvements in business performance. It will focus on raising confidence, self-esteem and progressing more women within management.
  • To develop and deliver a programme of support to 118 eligible participants that is tailored to individual learners, involving a series of half day or evening workshops/modules. Modular L2 & L3 units will be available from a core offer which includes:
    • Team building
    • Supervisory skills
    • Coaching
    • Performance management
    • Presentation and speaking skills
    • Effective networking
    • Digital marketing and identifying new markets
    • Strategies for influence and impact
  • To support 118 women eligible for the programme, returning into employment following a career break, to overcome barriers to staying in employment and address under-employment, through personal skills and employability skills development, ensuring their skills are updated to reflect the changing business needs.


GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE

  • To deliver from all areas / premises as required in relation to the needs of Aspire-igen’s projects.


SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No direct line management responsibility.
  • Provision of guidance or support to Partner organisations.


SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE:

  • Responsible to a Project Manager
  • Personal initiative is expected to be exercised, referring complex problems or policy queries to the Project Manager


RANGE OF DECISION TAKING:

  • Responsible for decisions made in connection with duties


RESPONSIBILITY FOR ASSETS, MATERIALS ETC:

  • Confidential files held in relation to customers and colleagues
  • Consumable office items reference books, portable computer equipment and some audio/visual


RANGE OF DUTIES:

  • Lead on the development of modular units that are unregulated learning, but where appropriate, adapted and tailored from ILM/CMI and Leadership and Management programmes, to deliver outputs across the full geographic area (York and North Yorkshire).
  • Work with the Key Worker and Training Coordinator to engage with and support participants through their learner journey, delivering tailored support and training, in groups and one-to-one.
  • Deliver tailored short programmes, involving a series of half day or evening workshops /modules, responding to the needs of Aspiring Young Women.
  • Provide tailored upskilling and personal development support through group workshops, peer learning, and one-to-one mentoring support to women returners to reflect changing working practices and business needs.
  • Encourage all participants to take advantage of support offered through other delivery strands, e.g. Women’s Support Networks.
  • Work with the Training Coordinator to ensure all learners with basic skills needs, e.g. digital skills, take-up the available learning to address these.
  • Maintain records as appropriate, including entries into nominated management information and client management systems, ensuring ESIF and GDPR compliance.
  • Support evaluation element of the project, through identifying good practice and lessons learned to meet different needs, in addition to identification of potential case studies.
  • Contribute to quarterly claims submitted to the Managing Authority in line with contractual requirements.
  • Produce monthly update reports for the Project Manager to contribute toward the management of contractual performance.
  • Develop partnership working relationships with internal colleagues and other organisations, including the organisation, promotion and provision of Aspire-igen services in external settings.

General

  • Comply with the Company’s Equal & Diversity Policies. and implement the project Equality and Diversity implementation plan and sustainability plan
  • Ensure that adequate Health and Safety arrangements are in place for customers in line with the procedures within the Company’s Quality Management System.
