Trainee Telecommunications Engineer

If you like being outside, hands on, and all things techy then we need you as a Trainee Airband Engineer! We are a fast-growing telecommunications company with fixed wireless & fibre networks in Devon, Shropshire, Somerset, Oxfordshire and the Midlands and we are rapidly expanding to new areas. We want enthusiastic, bright and customer focussed individuals to join our growing engineering team.

What will you be doing?

You will be given the opportunity to work in different departments across Airband to learn a variety of skills and gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of telecommunications. Training will consist of a mixture of formal and inhouse training as well as learning from our expert telecommunications team out in the field.

Out in the field you will shadow engineers, first learning fibre connectivity through network build, maintenance and customer installations, so you will need to be happy working at heights and outside. We know the weather can be changeable in the UK, so we will provide warm, waterproof clothing. Once confident in understanding how we deliver fibre to customer, you will be trained as a fibre installer and you’ll get your own van when you are ready to work independently. Following on from this, there are opportunities to move into other specialist engineering teams and progress through to engineer, senior engineer and team leader.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for people that are ready to learn, enjoy technology and don’t mind working outside. You can’t be afraid of heights as lots of the work will be off the ground, and you will need a full driving license.

You will need to have a good customer manner as you will be the face of Airband whilst doing customer installs. You may have some previous engineering experience but it’s not essential as long as you have the right attitude and are up for the challenge.

There is a positive and proven fast track route for the right candidates to achieve a customer fibre installation engineer within a short period of time.

What is in it for you?

    • £15,000 - £18,720 - starting salary dependent on age
    • Opportunity to achieve qualifications
    • Vehicle once reached appropriate experience
    • 23 days holiday rising to 28.
    • 5% Airband pension plus minimum 3% employee contribution
    • Dental and Health Plans
    • Death in Service
    • Salary sacrifice options for Cars, Bikes, Tech and Home Appliances
    • Lots of opportunities for progression
    • A chance to be involved in Airband’s exciting journey
