Graduate (Trainee)

£24,400 + Excellent benefits

Full Time – 37.5 hours pw

Role Overview

The purpose of the role is to provide assistance and support to the BGUK legal team working as a trainee solicitor and at the same time undertake and complete a solicitor training contract in accordance with the requirements of the UK Solicitors Regulation Authority. The Training Contract will be for a duration of two years usually divided into four training seats of six months each although this may be varied as necessary by Bupa provided that the SRA requirements for training are still met

What You’ll Do

Provide support and assistance to the members of the BGUK Legal team, including:
  • Implementation of legal technology across the BGUK Legal team.
  • working closely and collaborating with other members of the BGUK Legal team to deliver effective legal support and assistance with respect to the operations of BGUK.
  • ensuring that Bupa’s name, reputation, and intellectual property rights are protected.
  • keeping up to date with external best practice and developments in the law in order to maintain and share up-to-date knowledge and ensure continuous improvement.
  • assisting with the development of procedures, templates, guidance, and knowhow across the BGIUK Legal team.
  • The Trainee will complete all necessary training and courses and keep up to date all necessary work logs required by the UK Solicitors Regulatory Authority from time to time in order to complete the Training Contract in compliance with the rules set out by the UK Solicitors Regulatory Authority.
What You’ll Bring
  • Law degree or degree in another subject with a pass or higher in the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or other appropriate conversion course.
  • A pass or higher in the Legal Practice Course or SQE.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience working in-house or in private practice assisting with the implementation of technology (preferably legal technology).
  • Good organisational skills; understanding of how to add value; tenacious with a high attention to detail; conscientious and hard-working; thrives in a dynamic environment; ability to act with good judgment and discretion, including handling of sensitive matters appropriately.
