Our growing Technology and Design team plays a key role in ensuring OS is at the cutting edge of geospatial capability and is looking for people to join them. Its mission is to work across the business to provide customer centric design and technology services.

We are looking for individuals who have great problem-solving skills, and who are enthusiastic and tenacious when faced with a challenge. We are recruiting for multiple roles within our Technology and Design department.

What The Training Programme Involves

You will embark on a 12-month training programme within a professional software engineering team. You will work closely with technical mentors and experienced software engineers, who will help you to develop the business knowledge and technical skills required to flourish within OS.

Over the programme you will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate your skills in modern software development. The technologies we work with include Microsoft Azure, C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, Microsoft Azure DevOps Services, as well as more specialist geospatial technologies such as Esri ArcGIS, and data technologies like Safe FME.

What You’ll Get From The Programme

By the end of the training programme, you will be competent in:
  • Agile software development and DevOps practices
  • Software engineering, testing, security, infrastructure, and automation
  • Programming languages and tools used by your core area
Upon successful completion of the training programme, you will be progress to the role Associate Software Engineer, ready to continue your software engineering journey. There are various opportunities for further progression within OS and many of our Senior and Lead Software Engineers are former trainees.

You don’t need to sign up, and you are welcome to attend both sessions. You don’t need to attend session to submit an application and attendance isn’t part of the selection process, but you can find out more about what we are looking for from the sessions. We will not be recording the sessions, so we can’t offer this to people who are unable to attend.

Location

OSHQ is based in Southampton, Hampshire but at OS we believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go. We embrace a hybrid working model where we believe work can be split between our fantastic office and from home. We will discuss what arrangements work best for you and the team you’ll be joining at interview.
