In a Nutshell:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Vistry Partnerships West Midlands, at our Newcastle Under Lyme site. As our Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for assisting and observing the execution of the Quantity Surveying function on allocated contracts, within the parameters of the Training and Development Programme, in order to fulfil the requirements of the Company in maximising quality of service and profitability.

What we would like from you:

Key Responsibilities -
  • General filing and storing of correspondence and records.
  • Assistance with archiving old project material
  • Preparing and submitting material delivery sheets
  • Measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings) for Valuations, Variations & Final Accounts as directed by line manager.
  • Monthly stock taking for external valuations.
  • Measurement and valuation of subcontractors work for payment purposes.
  • Ensuring that payments to sub-contractors are made on time and in accordance with the subcontract agreement
  • Assisting in preparation of financial reports by taking relevant site measurements and/or measuring from drawings as directed by line manager.
  • Monthly stock taking for internal valuations.
  • Attend applicable college/university for formal academic training - generally on a day release basis
  • Keep up to date records of training and development through appraisals and the application of the Training and Development Plan.
  • Any other reasonable quantity surveying related task as directed by line manager or referred to in QS Procedures Manual.
Competencies –
  • Ability to efficiently file and retrieve information and to allow others to do likewise.
  • Full understanding of archiving procedures and what material needs archiving
  • Timely and accurate production of material delivery sheets.
  • Preparing detailed, accurate and orderly measurements in accordance with relevant measurement standards and preparing accounts using relevant rates.
  • Preparing detailed, accurate and orderly stock lists and applying relevant rates from orders or price books.
  • Preparing detailed, accurate and orderly measurements in accordance with relevant measurement standards and preparing accounts using relevant rates.
  • Completing regular and timely payment certificates and presenting to line manager for approval.
  • Preparing detailed, accurate and orderly measurements in accordance with relevant measurement standards and preparing accounts using relevant rates.
  • Preparing detailed, accurate and orderly stock lists and applying relevant rates from orders or price books.
  • Achieve necessary passes in exams and course works to progress to following year or achieve final pass in relevant studies. Provide evidence of results and attendance records when requested.
  • Record experience on a regular basis and complete all sections of relevant training plan within given time guidelines
