Job Shop Recruitment are currently looking to recruit for a Trainee Manufacturing Operative Job Summary: As a Trainee Manufacturing Operative, you will join a manufacturing team to learn and develop skills in operating edgebanding machinery. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the edgebanding process, ensuring the accurate and efficient application of edgebanding materials to various wood-based products. This is an entry-level position designed to provide training and hands-on experience in the manufacturing industry, specifically in the field of edgebanding. Key Responsibilities:-Learn and understand the principles and techniques of edgebanding operations.
  • Assist experienced operators in setting up and operating edgebanding machinery.
  • Prepare materials and workpieces for edgebanding, including cleaning, sanding, and ensuring proper dimensions.
  • Load and unload materials onto the edgebanding machine, following established safety procedures.
  • Operate edgebanding machinery under close supervision, adhering to quality standards and production schedules.
  • Monitor the production process to identify any defects, errors, or inconsistencies, reporting them to the supervisor.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on machinery, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
  • Work in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to ensure efficient workflow and meet production targets.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment. Additional duties: This role is primarily responsible for edgebanding duties in the flow of the manufacturing process. However, you will be trained on other skills and machinery and be expected to carry out other duties as and when required to fulfil project requirements as orders are manufactured through the factory process. Requirements:
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn how to operate machinery.
  • Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and lift heavy materials when required.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or woodworking is advantageous, but not required. Training and Development:
  • Comprehensive training will be provided to familiarize you with edgebanding techniques and machinery operation and maintenance.
