The Green Hub provides a waste management service and supports environmental initiatives and environmental impact in the Lush business. We are needing to recruit for a trainee manager role to join the team and help us deliver to the needs of the business. We are looking for an individual who has good knowledge already or is willing to learn environmental legislation, waste management, and waste hierarchy.


To complement the knowledge, the individual also needs to have practical skills to support the running of the Green Hub, excellent organisational skills, is efficient at record-keeping and monitoring and is also able to compose reports of the Green Hubs performance and progress to the rest of business.

This role will also be to support the Greenhub manager and Floor Manager and will be included within a support network of other areas across the business who are working on Environmental impacts, initiative and our internal environmental policy to work towards “leaving the world lusher than we found it”. These areas being:

  • Earthcare Operations & Engagement
  • Finance
  • Health & Safety
  • Process Improvements
  • Environmental Officer

This individual will be working closely with the Manufacturing Environmental Officer. This collaboration will be on projects and initiatives that will have a direct impact on the Greenhub. They will also work closely together on reporting and engagement to the rest of business ensuring we are communicating efficiently and effectively and providing all the information the business requires on a regular basis.

They will be based within the Greenhub team and working with others managing waste as a whole for the business, ensuring provision of services, overall monitoring, legislation and strategy.

This role is part of and linked to a dynamic and passionate team with people in service to different parts of the business, from Retail to Finance, Earthcare, and Buying. The individual will be self-motivated and have a strong ability to self-manage, organise priorities and communicate well. You will report to the Greenhub Manager and work closely with the Environmental Officer.


Purpose: Support and provide a waste management service to Lush businesses whilst accommodating and supporting in delivering positive environmental impact.


Key Responsibilities & Duties


Operational, Staff Management & Planning

  • Monitor sickness, absence and timekeeping and keeping records
  • Ensure staff are being cross-trained across the room and keeping records
  • Keeping staff training records up to date
  • Keeping holiday forms up to date
  • Check timesheets
  • Organise staff to ensure work is covered
  • Ensuring staff are motivated and working efficiently
  • Liaise with the manager on the days/weeks priorities
  • Working with the manager to ensure the Greenhub is as efficient and cost-effective as possible

Support

  • Ability and confidence to cover for manager holiday/sickness
  • Support manager in daily operations
  • Link in and work with the Environmental Officer on projects

Engagement

  • Support to organise Greenhub visits, host groups from different areas of the business and ensure they are receiving an opportunity of learning and understanding

Legislation/Legal Requirements

  • Ensure we are adhering to company policy and Environmental legislation at all times and promote that within the department
  • Maintain an understanding of Health and Safety policies
  • Keep up to date on environmental legislation, via trade magazines and government websites
  • Have knowledge on waste management and waste hierarchy or the desire to learn and promote this within the department.

Record Keeping/Data/Reporting/Communication

  • Efficient record keeping of waste and recycling movements, ensuring the correct paperwork is used and retained for the legally required period.
  • Ensure all duty of care paperwork, transfer notes are collected, filed, and reported.
  • Keep track of the performance of the greenhub: waste and recycling figures, water usage figures.
  • Good communication to all levels within the company, including feedback and collaboration with departments.
  • Maintain communication with contractors/end users.
  • Providing efficient information and reports on a regular basis and as and when required

Attributes/Skills

  • Individual to be flexible, proactive, adaptable and reactive, understanding the Greenhub is a service provided and also offers support for the rest of the business.
  • Great computer skills, able to record data and compose information into regular reports.
  • Ability to cover all jobs within the Greenhub
  • Is able to identify solutions to opportunities and has a can-do attitude and great team ethic
  • Has knowledge or experience on waste management, however, if not and this is a subject they are passionate about and are willing to learn, the teams linked into the Greenhub will help and support this individual to be developed to the standard required.
