TRAINEE COSTS LAWYER
A highly reputable and specialist law firm are looking for an enthusiastic trainee to join their Costs Solutions team, in their central Bristol office. This is a permanent full time position which offers full training as a cost lawyer. You will work on highly detailed cases, and provide a complete costs service to UK Top 100 law firms.This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal or legal assistant, who has decided that qualifying as a Solicitor is not their chosen pathway. Instead, you are looking for guaranteed training to become a Costs Lawyer, the opportunity to get involved with business development and to work in an incredibly high performing and innovative team.This is a full time, permanent role, which can offer 1 day a week remote working whilst training. The number of days in which you work remotely has the potential to increase over time.
This is what you’ll be doing
  • Delivering a complete costs service to clients
  • Provide litigation support to clients, including costs management and the Detailed Assessment Process under the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Produce accurate Court documents, engaging in effective negotiations and providing commercially sound, cost effective advice to clients
  • Pro-actively promoting team marketing initiatives and business development projects
  • Developing client relationships, in which you will engage with Senior Solicitors and Partners at UK Top 100 firms
  • Complying with all regulations set internally and externally
The experience you’ll bring to the team
  • A genuine interest to pursue a career in costs law is essential
  • Previous experience working in a law firm is essential
  • Previous cost experience, experience dealing with the Civil Procedure Rules, or use of a case management system is advantageous
  • Strong academics, LLB is desirable
  • Superb public speaking and communication skills, with an interest in advocacy
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office and strong IT skills
