Why work for us?

Established since 1926, we have an excellent reputation in the local area. We can provide job security and ongoing training and welcome applications from candidates with all levels of experience. Our award-winning in-house training department at our Head Office in Hull allows us to recruit and train candidates with or without a PCV licence. There are no costs for training or uniform (provided you remain with us for a period of two years or more) and we pay you from day one so you can earn while you learn.

What makes a great candidate for this role?

You must have great customer services skills and be a team player. Having experience of driving buses or a bus licence is not necessary, as we’ll provide training to help you get your licence, although you must hold a valid car licence. Applications are also welcomed from those who already hold a PCV licence. A good grasp of basic English and maths is essential as you’ll be dealing with passengers on a daily basis, and a knowledge of the local area is helpful. You need to look smart and professional, and be willing to work shifts. If you have these qualities, we can teach you the rest!

You will also need to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if we offer you a position - that’s a disclosure of any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, final warnings etc.

What are pay and benefits like?

Once you’re fully trained, pay is £9.76 per hour, with overtime at basic plus £1.80 per hour. With overtime, you can earn around £20k per year. You will get paid a training rate whilst training, and go onto the top rate once you pass your practical test. The position is full time and permanent.

We also provide 20 days holiday (rising to 25 days after 4 years service), a company pension, free bus travel for you and your partner and up to two children (under 16, when travelling with a passholder) within the area, an employee discount scheme for you and your partner and lots of other other benefits.
