About the opportunity

As a member of the Operational Road Safety team, you will support designers, contractors and Highway Authorities to prevent road crashes. You’ll join a team that has an enviable reputation in the UK Transportation consultancy sector as a result of a portfolio of projects with clients that include the National Highways, Transport Scotland, Welsh Government, National Contractors and numerous Local Authorities.

You will work within a team focused on delivering a variety of traffic projects ranging from Smart Motorway updates, Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) projects and Specialist Professional and Technical Services (SPaTS) framework. As a subject matter expert you will provide technical assurance and advice on matters related to road geometry, sign/signal/VMS gantry positioning, traffic signs and road markings. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Act as an advisor and consultant providing road safety solutions and audits.
  • Organisation and delivery of traffic sign designs across a range of scheme sizes and complexities and a range of clients.
  • Providing road safety advice and direction to project teams
  • Provide professional and technical excellence in highway engineering
  • Support in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services.

With offices throughout the UK, we can be flexible with regards to location for this position, we have teams based in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Stockton and Glasgow.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • Subject matter expert with in-depth specialist knowledge in the design of traffic signs and carriageway markings
  • Experience of operational management of highways especially motorways and trunk roads but also local roads
  • Strong working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and its use, in particular the main design standards
