An exciting opportunity has arisen for junior doctors to join the Tier 1 neonatal team. Successful applicants will gain experience in our brand new sub-regional neonatal intensive care centre (SuRNICC) in North Wales. The £18million unit has now opened and is based at Glan Clwyd Hospital in the centre of North Wales near St Asaph. The unit consists of 5 intensive care cots, 5 HDU cots and nine special care cots. The birth rate in North Wales currently stands around 7500 births a year and the network cares for all babies born at 26 weeks and above.Main duties of the job
Tier 1 post (SHO equivalent) in Neonatal Medicine

Many junior doctors have used the experience gained in our unit to pursue paediatric and GP training posts. We have an enthusiastic, structured and comprehensive education programme. It starts with careful induction. Morning handover meetings for the whole team are followed by topic reviews, case discussions, journal clubs, and audit presentations.
Job Description
Job responsibilities
Neonates - You will be responsible for attending deliveries, acute admissions on our unit and their management as well as examination of newborns on the post natal ward. There are opportunities to sit in on both baby clinics and joint specialist clinics to gain out-patient experience.
The clinical duties are shared between the nine first on call staff and are rotated on a regular basis.

qualification
Essential
- MB BS (or equivalent).
- Registration with the GMC.
- evidence of training progression
- additional qualifications APLS / NLS
Experience
- Completed foundation program (or equivalent outside the UK).
- Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
Essential
- Evidence of understanding and knowledge of specialty.
clinical skills
- Competent in history taking and examination skills.
- Competent in basic life support and resuscitation skills.
Communication Skills
- Fluent in English.
- Good Communication skills, both oral and written.
- Able to establish good working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Essential
- Good organisational skills and time management
- Able to function successfully under pressure.
other requirements
- Willing to seek help from senior colleagues as appropriate.
- Ability to fulfil all the duties of the post including weekend working and night shifts.
- Prepared to be flexible in working patterns.
- An understanding of the principles of Clinical Audit.
- Demonstrate some experience in teaching undergraduates.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Word/Excel/Access or equivalent).
- Completed an audit project.
