Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner Term time & Burrow (52 week) positions. Starting Salary: £24,231 pa Application Deadline: Monday 5 July 2021 Interview Date: Wed 17 July 2021 Online open session: Tuesday June 29th (Approx 1 hr) time to be confirmed. The Mulberry Bush is a therapeutic community, registered as a children’s home and a non-maintained residential special school, for vulnerable and severely traumatised primary aged children and their families from across England and Wales. It is part of the Mulberry Bush charity - see our website for more. The school is situated in West Oxfordshire and is rated Outstanding by Ofsted for both residential care (2021) and education (2018). Our therapeutic treatment programme is rooted in being with our amazing but challenging children through the ups and downs of day-to-day life. If you are able to get alongside children and offer them authentic care and support while holding a reflective stance then this is a great opportunity to join our multidisciplinary staff team. You will be role modelling healthy behaviour and offering a creative combination of good boundaries, high hopes and expectations, sensitive care and positive experiences. We offer children and their families’ safe, resilient relationships and an environment in which everybody, including members of staff, feels valued and can grow through nurture and challenge. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates and from LGBTQ candidates as these communities are under-represented in our current staff team. It’s vital that our children experience a diverse adult community which offers them a range of role models and a rich cultural mix. Like many organisations we recognise a need to develop our inclusive culture and we’d love you to join us on our journey. While we value qualifications, training and professional experience we welcome applicants who bring skills and experience from diverse professional and personal backgrounds: your life experience, enthusiasm, resilience, great communication skills and an openness to learn are what we are looking for. Interests and hobbies you can share with children will contribute to your application. We have recently had a lot of female applicants and we’d welcome applications from men to maintain a good gender mix in our teams. The Burrow is our purpose built modern property designed to offer flexible support to children requiring 52 week residential therapeutic care, their families and their professional networks. The Burrow team provides a home for up to six children during school holiday periods, works alongside our term time teams at other times and contributes to flexible, bespoke support to the children’s families as required. The Burrow team works a more flexible rota and takes annual leave throughout the year, which enables them to meet the needs of all the children and create connections across our community alongside their core task of providing a home to their Burrow children. Our term time houses, Rainbow, Sunset, Pegasus and Jigsaw, accommodate all our children during term time. Each house has a staff team focused on supporting their children. These teams work during school terms, taking leave during school holidays. Their rota is a bit more predictable. We currently have vacancies in our in term time (38 week) teams.
