Job DescriptionYorkshire Clinic | Theatre Manager | Full TimeWe have an exciting vacancy that has arisen at The Yorkshire Clinic for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Theatre Manager to join our customer and commercially focused team.As a key member of the Senior Clinical Team, the Theatre Manager will be integral to the development of the strategic vision and plan for the Theatre department, as well as accountable for delivery of patient pathways that are Caring, Safe, Effective, Responsive, Effective and Well Led.At the Yorkshire Clinic our Theatre department is made up of 5 theatres, 4 of which are laminar flow. Our specialities include Orthopaedic, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Urology, Plastics, ENT, Cosmetics, Bariatrics and General Surgery.The Theatre Manager will be expected to play a key role in the management and strategic development of the Theatre department, working closely with the Head of Clinical Services to deliver a challenging agenda; provide a high-quality service to patients and a positive working environment for our staff.We are looking for an adaptable, clinical leader with strong leadership skills. The ability to communicate well with a multidisciplinary team is vital.The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of leading and developing high performing teams to enhance patient care and customer experience, whilst facilitating the best possible clinical outcomes. A commitment to the development of high-quality evidence based care is essential, combined with the tenacity and passion required to drive success in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.If you are looking for a new challenge in further progressing your career in clinical leadership and being able to lead a team in providing outstanding care, this role is for you.Reporting to the Surgical Operating Manager, the Ward Manager will: -
  • Provide leadership for Theatre and work in close collaboration with the other senior heads of department to ensure high quality care throughout the patient pathway.
  • Develop strong partnerships with key stakeholders e.g. Consultants
  • Build effective controls for the monitoring and management of the clinical teams to comply with effective action plans for continuous improvement
  • Ensure the Key Performance Indicator targets are achieved by the department.
  • Ensure a skilled knowledgeable workforce is available in providing care which is directed by best practice. Build a team with expertise in key clinical areas i.e Resuscitation, Infection prevention, Audit, Blood Transfusion, Medical Devices, Training.
  • Provide effective deployment of resources needed to sustain agreed activity levels
  • Build effective controls for the monitoring and management of clinical records.
  • Lead the department in complying with all statutory and Ramsay Health Care UK quality standards and policies.
  • Lead clinically based projects to support the development of the hospital services and specialities.
  • Identify best practices and apply to surgical safety and Service Delivery i.e NICE Guidance, NCEPOD, NatSSIPs
  • Using the CQC five key domains evidence a caring, responsive, effective, safe and well led department.
  • Ensure the team provide high standards of care that is focused around the patient and their safety
The ideal candidate will have: -
  • A strong clinical background in Theatre Management.
  • Strong focus on Clinical Governance and Quality to support drive the safety clinical effectiveness.
  • Experience in chairing committee meetings.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • A “Customer first” approach and genuine commitment to Customer care.
  • A strong track record and evidence of delivering a change agenda to enhance quality and efficiency and develop clinical services.
  • Significant exposure in a senior clinical role to external stakeholders such as Consultants, and the broader health care community.
  • A strong track record in leading and developing a successful, efficient team and being part of that team.
  • Experience and confidence in effectively managing finances and budgets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant legal and professional care/practice standards and evidence of ongoing professional development
Essential for the role:
  • NMC – Registered General Nurse. HCPC – Operating Department Practitioner
  • Strong Clinical background (Peri operative Practice)
  • Previous Theatre Management experience at a senior level
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification (ENB 998/SLIP)
  • ALS/ILS
  • Leadership experience
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the Theatre and services
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
