Job Description:

Looking forward to hire a lead supervisor. The chassis dyno test delivery team is part of powertrain test operations and engineering operations. The team maintains productive workflow from the chassis dyno test facility and delivers test capability to the powertrain engineering and certification teams.
The delivery of testing using complex emission measurement instruments is required to drive the design and optimization of control technology in order to meet required vehicle targets. The team supports delivery from facilities at Whitley and Gaydon. Our function is to support the customer teams from powertrain and engineering in their objective of achieving timely, quality product release.
The supervisor is responsible for leading the chassis dyno test team in delivering high quality output in support of development and certification activities, as well as day-to-day issue resolution, new techniques and methods development. They work as part of a team who assure the workflow and quality from our team. They interface with complex cross functional teams, this includes test facility support team, the customer or stakeholder groups, external agencies and organisations. A number of other IT related tasks and functions are supported within this remit.
The person filling this role will work on a day shift pattern and will be providing support for the facility that runs 24/7. They will be based primarily in Whitley managing the workflow of a small team who operate during their shift; they are responsible for supporting delivery from chassis dyno test facilities at Whitley. Strong leadership and robust management skills, supported by a foundation built on proven technical ability are needed to ensure that you make best use of the specialised practical and technical skills in the team.
Skills Required:
  • Level 4 qualification science or engineering discipline.
  • Evidence of leadership and management of large team 20+.
  • Background in quality standards and audit processes.
Experience Required:
  • Level 4 qualification science or engineering discipline.
  • Proven leadership and workload management experience.
  • Proven ability to plan effectively and achieve quality results.
  • Natural problem-solver with proven experience and structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of company health and safety requirements, including risk assessment, COSHH and MSDS.
  • Computer literate, including microsoft office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, process and SPL documents.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or testing environment, with a knowledge of measurement technology and facility requirements.
  • Robust clear communicator with excellent organisational skills that can manage concurrent activities.
  • Background in quality standards and audit processes.
Experience Preferred:
  • Ideally educated to degree level in a science or engineering discipline.
  • A qualification or background in leadership and management six sigma black belt or green belt certification.
  • Knowledge of vehicle emissions testing.
  • Skills in fault resolution and root-cause identification are crucial, as is a methodical, logical approach to work.
  • Experience of Instrumentation calibration processes.
  • Previous experience of leading a team, the implementation of lean tools and processes.
