Test & Installation Engineer

Due to growth and planned expansion into new territories and technologies, we are now looking to add talent to our existing team. As part of this, we have a vacancy for a Test & Installation Engineer. The role will involve components and systems build, testing at all levels, factory sign-off procedures and travel to customer locations to conduct installation and user training. For some systems, semi-custom elements of the build will require the development and implementation of technical solutions and coordination with scientific staff.

Key duties will include:

  • Plan and complete system installation and user training at customer locations
  • Oversee factory acceptance tests
  • Test systems and sub-assemblies
  • Organise and maintain test data and procedures
  • Active involvement in post-sales support
  • Provide feedback and suggest modifications to design team

Required skills and personal attributes include:

  • Willingness to travel worldwide

Desirable skills and personal attributes include:

  • Knowledge of vacuum systems
  • Knowledge of PLC systems
  • Knowledge of PVD / CVD systems
  • Experience of working as an installation/service engineer
  • Experience of working with scientific equipment

Candidates should thus be excellent team-workers with good communication skills, and possess the technical background needed for identifying areas for improvement in an engineering production operation. Education to degree level in a technical field (electronics/mechanical engineering, or a relevant science) or relevant work experience is preferred. The ideal candidate would demonstrate strong initiative, hold a current passport (for unrestricted travel in the EU) and EU driving license, demonstrate a self-motivated approach to task completion and have the ambition and capability to progress quickly within an SME with a unique product range. Additional languages and some level of programming knowledge would be advantageous.

The role will involve regular national and international travel to customer locations.

Salary dependent on skills and experience.
