TT Electronics’ Bedlington facility north of Newcastle upon Tyne is the home of two TT Electronics divisions; Sensors & Specialist Components and Power Electronics. Sensors & Specialist Components are leaders in high reliability, high performance and engineered electronic components. Power Electronics provide custom power solutions for safety-critical applications in harsh environments. The team in Bedlington specialises in microcircuit production for the aerospace and defence industries.

Role Overview and Responsibilities:
Introduction
We have a vacancy for an Test Engineering Manager within our Sensors and Specialist Components business. The ideal candidate will have worked in an electronics manufacturing environment as a test engineering, developing test hardware and software. In this role you will manage a team of test engineers who are responsible for providing day to day production support, improvement activities and introducting new equipment and new products into production.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, key duties and responsibilities will include: -
  • Management of the team, including day to day production priorities and longer team projects
  • Setting objectives and conducting annual appraisals
  • Development of the team in line with business strategy
  • Proactively contribute to the annual engineering budget, both capital equipment and headcount
  • Identify and mitigate test equipment single points of failure and obselecence test systems

Team Responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities of your team will include: -
  • Support production with the running of automated test equipment.
  • Setup and maintain electrical measurement systems.
  • Evaluate and interpret customer test specifications.
  • Design and construct test hardware.
  • Modify/generate test code to control instrumentation and perform automated testing.
  • Develop an understanding of the production test machinery and have in-house expertise to on each system.
  • Research, design, and develop equipment/processes to optimize productivity and workflow.
  • Update/produce technical documentation such as circuit diagrams, test procedures and operating instructions.
  • Identify and procure new test equipment where required.
  • Provide training and support to production operators.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:
Core Requirements
  • Minimum Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • A hands on appraoch
  • Relevant experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Management experience or a demonstrable ability to lead a team.

Desireable Skills and Experience
  • A keen interest in software programming such as: Labview, CVI, Python, VB.
  • Experience using test instrumentation such as Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators and Digital Multimeters.
  • Practical electronics and fault diagnosis skills.
  • Enthuisam to train others and mentor junior engineers
