The Senior Test Engineer reports to Test Centre Manager and is the member of the GL Test Centre group responsible for providing engineering and testing assistance as well as technical support. He / she will train individuals in the operation of new test equipment and specialised measurement equipment.

The Senior Test Engineer will
  • Assist the Test Centre Manager in day-to-day support of the Test Centre.
  • Act as deputy Test Centre Manager when required
  • Responsible for the supervision of sub-groups and individuals within the Test Centre
  • Operate Measuring Equipment and Data Logging Equipment (Rotec etc.).
  • Project manages rig building, modification, commissioning, and development to suit test requirements and rig consistency.
  • Responsible for the production, control and issue of documentation
  • Develop advanced knowledge of Test Centre Databases to provide data and presentations as required.
  • Promote standards commensurate with a Centre of Excellence committed to continual improvement.
  • Senior Test Engineer takes full responsibility for Test and Rig projects.
  • Support current and future HSE site and corporate initiatives
  • Takes an active role in the control of budgets
Normal office working hours occasionally extended for special circumstances. Interpersonal and facilitation skills required to work in a multi-disciplinary environment are essential. A positive and helpful attitude to team members and Test Centre Customers must be maintained. Work in a tidy, organised way and progress work at a pace to support a continually changing Technology Centre.

A Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with relevant experience is required.

Computer literacy is essential including being competent with Microsoft Office and CAD

Have experience in test equipment and relevant instrumentation

It would be an advantage to have a formal qualification in Health and Safety or a clear capability in achieving this
