As a Telco Client Solution Architect, you’ll find no similar two days! You will interact externally with Communication Service Providers stakeholders from different line of businesses, with a multitude of different requirements. Internally you will work with colleagues across the business from salespeople to telco delivery experts to highly skilled engineers and your peers. Your creativity coupled with your active listening and analytical skills will be key to positioning and selling the best Telco Cloud services solutions to provide desired business outcomes and maximum value for our customers.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

The primary objective of a Telco Client Solution Architect is to support VMware’s Telco Services Sales activities by engaging with customers at various levels, building trusted relationships and discovering customer needs that can be met by VMware’s Telco Professional Services portfolio. You will work to develop and position packages of Professional Services that help our Telco customers to meet their objectives and maximize the value from their investment. You will also engage in key selected design & delivery activities to help build trust and prove the value of VMware Telco Cloud solutions.

  • During your first 30 days you will integrate with the EMEA Telco Professional Services Practice & Telco community, to learn how the Professional Services team operates to deliver high quality and effective solutions for our customers.You will meet the wider VMware team building relationships and start leveraging your knowledge and ideas in building solid approaches that will bring customers success.
  • After 120 days you will function as a core member of EMEA Telco Professional Services team, transitioning to become a trusted advisor both internally with sales teams and externally with our customers. You will create customer facing deliverables using your in-depth knowledge of VMware Telco Cloud solutions, describing your proposed services that will help our Telco customers to achieve successful business outcomes.
  • From this point on you will aim to establish long term relationships with your account teams and your key Telco customers helping them achieve continued success with their business objectives whilst maximizing the value they receive from their VMware investments and ensuring stickiness, adoption and consumption of VMware Telco Cloud products & services.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • You will be working directly with customers to actively listen, understand, challenge, and help to understand their business requirements
  • Mapping VMware Telco services portfolio to the customer’s desired business outcomes normally as part of a VMware team. You should be able to think past products and tailor end-to-end services solutions
  • In order to build effective services for a wide range of customers you will apply your knowledge in one or more of the following areas – Telco & Multi-Cloud, SDDC, Application Modernization, and Cyber Security.
  • You will support sales teams in building commercial proposals by developing sound and quantifiable technical solutions and content
  • You will present, communicate, and validate your proposed technical solutions to our account teams and our customers using presentations, whiteboarding sessions, workshops, proposals, etc.
  • You will maintain high-level technical knowledge of the entire VMware Telco Cloud product lines by assisting in delivering Proof of Concepts and key engagements
  • You will ensure a smooth handover to our services delivery team providing alignment between sales and delivery to assure customer satisfaction.
  • You will act a as a key contributor to account strategy and planning aligning this with business unit strategies.
  • You will provide feedback to Professional Services Engineering regarding current service offerings along with generating new ideas for new offerings based on your knowledge from discussions with customers
  • You will be involved in industry events such as VMworld that help promote awareness of VMware’s services
  • You will be coached and helped to author blogs, technical articles, and white papers
  • You will be expected to travel up to 50% of the time across EMEA as the business requires

The hiring manager for this role is Davide Roveran, Director WWPS Telco Practice EMEA. His 20+ years expertise has been built from the frontlines with multiple roles in technical solutions consultancy, solution architecture and customer management, having grown and managed different Professional Services organizations.

Davide’s management philosophy is about encouraging everyone on the team to be independent thinkers who feel comfortable sharing a different point of view and have fun working together. Davide looks for people who can think out-of-the-box and then execute on a good idea, people which are keen to grow in a very dynamic, challenging and multi-cultural environment.

The core team is made up of several Telco Architects and Senior Consultants located across Europe, Middle East and Africa. The team works flexible hours, arranging schedules to fit business and personal needs.

Where is this role located?

The location of this role is flexible within United Kingdom. Work will be done from an office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware building.
