About the role

As the Preventative Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a small but diverse Engineering team, responsible for ensuring all mechanical equipment is maintained to the highest standard, achieving both optimum availability and reliability to meet the demands of a 24/7 paper-making operation.

What you will do

Day to day this translates into both an interesting and busy role!

In the role you can expect to;

  • Conduct routine mechanical checks/rounds
  • Manage and conduct the sites lubrication schedule
  • Provide mechanical support to shift teams
  • Carry out hands on preventative maintenance, repairs, and general fitting tasks on hydraulic & mechanical equipment
  • Be responsible for the Engineering workshop, Lubrication stores and Welding bay

You will be a critical member of the team during site shutdowns, when both your planning and technical abilities will be tested to ensure planned maintenance activities are delivered within the allocated time.

Root cause analysis is another fundamental part of the role to ensure we understand how processes can be improved.

Key to the role will be the support you provide to the shift teams, getting involved with hands on engineering, sharing both your knowledge and expertise.

Who You Are

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A NVQ Level 3 (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering
  • A confident mechanic with a good understanding of hydraulic systems and basic fault-finding skills
  • A systematic and methodical approach to routine and daily tasks
  • Results focused approach with proven analytical skills
  • Ability to work using your own initiative and unsupervised
  • Confidence in communicating with a wide range of people
  • Knowledge of SAP (desirable) with a good level of computer literacy
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure in a critical, busy environment
