Department Overview
The role holder will be a manager in the security team, they will take responsibility for ensuring all technical design changes are implemented in a secure way and will fully engage and support the design teams to ensure solutions are secure by design. The role will undertake security risk assessments, this will allow definition of the required technical security controls. The job will also involve communication of these changes and the associated technical controls to the HO team to allow them to undertake their own assurance activities as part of the Accreditation process.
The role holder will provide support for the day-to-day service, providing consultancy advice to stakeholders and ensuring technical security risks identified are entered into the Risk Register
Job Description
Please note this position can be office based or hybrid between office and home. Rugby, Basingstoke or London office.
Working closely with the other Airwave Workstreams, the role is responsible for delivering the following:
The Technical Security Architecture.
Service and System Hardening Strategy.
Service Accreditation.
Design of Technical Security measures to support and enforce the Airwave service security policies.
Creation and Maintenance of the Technical Security Architecture document.
Technical Security support to other design team members, including advice on security measures for other design elements and good practice guidance.
Monitoring of build and installation of Technical Security measures to ensure service security policy requirements are met.
Engagement with MSI product owners to ensure future security requirements are integrated into product roadmaps.
Proven experience of information security with a strong hands-off technical security background.
Direct experience of performing security risk assessments of applications and infrastructure within PSN (public services network).
Good working knowledge of information security standards (e.g. Cyber Essentials, ISF Standard of Good Practice for Information Security, ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Top 20 Controls) and Information Security Industry Good Practices.
Basic Requirements
Facilitate the detection of internal policy breaches and unauthorised internal activity.
Ability to define and deliver security controls within a complex technical network.
Drive the continuous improvement of security related processes and procedures.
Understanding of the telecommunications industry, threats faced, and remediation actions required.
Understand technical threat modelling, vulnerability identification and related remediation management.
Understanding of risk-based decision making.
Ability to explain complex technical items to non-technical stakeholders (both internal and external), including clients to influence outputs.
Ability to make choices and drive action when faced with ambiguity.
A minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Technical Security Manager.
CISSP or relevant qualification.
Must have expert knowledge in reviewing security designs and implementing security controls.
Must be able to articulate security issues and risk.
Demonstrable knowledge of technical security controls, including their drawbacks.
In order to apply successfully, you must be eligible to live and work in the UK in the last 3 years.
Documented evidence of the eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process. The candidate will ideally already hold a current UK Security Clearance, or be willing to undergo Security vetting, following Security Clearance (SC) check.
