Design and Development (D&D) is the product development centre allowing us to undertake true product development projects on behalf of our customers across a wide range of sectors from IoT to Medical, Aerospace & Defence and Automotive.

These range from early concept through to design for manufacture (DFM) and ultimately volume production. STI is a specialist Contract Electronics Manufacturer in which D&D enables the creation of new products to be seamlessly transitioned into our world-class production lines for PCBA and system level assembly.

We currently have a very exciting opportunity as a D&D Technical Product Lead who will lead the engineering development of customer products from Quotation through Concept and into Manufacture. This role is hybrid but mainly remote, only coming in when/if needed into the office.

This will be working for the D&D Engineering Manager who is a Chartered Engineer. They have worked in many different industries and has over 18 years’ experience of being a manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work for someone with a dynamic approach to leadership with exciting opportunities ahead.

As Technical Product Lead you will be responsible for the development of one or more products leading a team of engineers ranging from Electronics to Software and Mechanical designers.

The Technical Product Lead Role Will Involve
  • Lead the technical delivery of Product Development projects
  • Coordinate engineering activities across disciplines on Product Development projects
  • Leading design reviews
  • Be customer facing as the technical lead
  • Working with the customer to ensure the ‘right’ solution
  • Ensure the technical and regulatory requirements of Product Development projects are met across all disciplines
  • Working with Business Managers ensure that products are developed to agreed timescales and to both development budgets and meet product cost targets
  • Identify and manage technical change through Product Development projects working with Business Managers to assess the impact
  • Manage and/or contribute to the development of bids/quotation
  • Liaise with purchasing / production teams to
For This Role You Will Need
  • Has led Product Development projects on behalf of customers in the following fields;
    • Internet of Things (IoT)
    • Medical Devices
    • Industrial Products
    • Wireless Communication Products
  • A background in Electronics development, knowledge of software packages and development processes
  • A background in the development of wireless communication products; BlueTooth, IoT, Cellular, GPS, WiFi, RF
  • A background in Electronics manufacturing, requirements and processes
  • A background in Software development projects
  • Proven experience as a Program Manager, Technical Lead, Project Engineer or other lead position
  • Degree, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering or science discipline
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Proven expertise in system architecture, software and hardware integration, test and industrialization;
  • Knowledge of quality control systems
It is very important that you prioritise work since this role involves working with multiple projects at a time.

You will need Excellent knowledge of MS Office and MS Project. You will also need excellent knowledge of change management principles.

This role is Hybrid Remote and can be at our sites in Hook, Hampshire or Poynton, Stockport.
