The clinical laboratory team provides a High Quality Specialist Diagnostic Service to improve the Health Care of the people of South of Tyne and Wear.The post holder will assist with the management of the financial and physical resources of the Microbiology Department to ensure service delivery in line with National, Organisational and Directorate policies. The post holder will have a high level of specialist knowledge and experience in Microbiology diagnostic techniques and must have Health Professions Council (HPC) State Registration. It is a primary role of the post to provide specialist advice to clinical users regarding service provision and development.The South of Tyne Pathology Service was established in April 2013 with the consolidation of pathology across the three NHS Trusts of Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside. Microbiology has one laboratory situated in the Pathology Centre sited at Gateshead.The South of Tyne and Wear Clinical Pathology Service is situated in the heart of the North East, close to the historic and cultural cities of Newcastle and Durham. The area offers excellent leisure, sport and shopping facilities with the Northumbria coast and countryside just a few miles away. Transport links across the country and abroad are facilitated by easy access to the North East mainline rail network, an international airport and a North Sea ferry terminal. There is reasonably priced accommodation in good locations that is within easy commuting distance.The department has state of the art equipment and technology and prides itself on being forward thinking and innovative.To support the South of Tyne Pathology Microbiology Service an opportunity has arisen for a seconded Technical Manager to work in Microbiology Department.Successful Candidates Will Have
