Eden Scott is delighted to be retained by Cardowan Creameries in Glasgow to appoint a Technical Manager.

Cardowan Creameries is an independent, family owned margarine manufacturer incorporated in 1930 and based on the east side of Glasgow. They manufacture a comprehensive range of bulk margarines and shortenings for the bakery, catering and food processing sectors from small businesses to major corporations throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Cardowan Creameries produce a wide range of products manufactured in accordance with BRC, RSPO and Kosher accreditations. As a small company they have the flexibility to manufacturer bespoke products to their customer’s specific requirements in addition to the company’s branded, plain packaged and own label products.

This key role could suit an experienced Technical/ Quality Manager or candidates with the potential to learn and grow into the role, but you must have previous food technical/quality experience. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, hardworking, have a willingness to learn but also keen to get involved in other areas of the business out with technical and quality.

Main Duties

• You will ensure that Cardowan Creameries have the systems in place to produce products consistently to the agreed specifications and that all food safety and product integrity is maintained to customer, auditing body and legally required standards.
• Work closely with customers and other 3rd party service providers and carry out regular audits to include process, HACCP and Hygiene.
• Be responsible for the maintenance of the quality manual to ensure that all systems are up to date to the latest BRC standards.
• When required you will deputise for the Technical Director and oversee the laboratory and microbiology department. Additionally, you will assist the production team when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

• Candidates must have a food technical/quality background with formal qualifications however a Degree is not essential.
• You must be able to demonstrate previous experience of working on a BRC accredited site and involvement in BRC auditing, customer specifications and management of the quality management system.
• As part of a small team and business you will have a desire to deliver results and the drive to exceed expectations.
• A team player you will be flexible, hands on and willing to get involved in other areas of the business and possess excellent communication skills.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00 and flexibility is required during busy periods.
