Technical Lead - Java - Hybrid up to 2 days a week in Mansfield

My client based in the lovely village on Mansfield is looking to hire a Java developer / Technical lead to join their team on a permanent basis. The current tech lead has decided to move roles after 8 years in post so they are looking for someone to bring in new and fresh ideas to the team as well as looking after the developers ( 2 direct reports with a dotted line to 8 others) and still being hands on with the code!

We are looking for someone to lead and mentor a software development team to develop modern system architectures with a commitment to continuous improvement as well as provide thought leadership in the development, delivery and support of a diverse software estate and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a DEVOPS team.

This role will give you the opportunity to lead their software development strategy, with exposure to the latest development platforms such as AWS. You will work on their customer-facing e-commerce and back office delivery systems, supporting the operational business by designing, developing and integrating web-based Java solutions.

Working collaboratively alongside technical experts, you’ll be exploring, learning and testing new technologies and then bringing the rest of the team along through a hands-on approach. You will be responsible for setting design principles and frameworks for the team and shaping how they take technology forward.

The successful candidate will have a mix of front and back end skills, a passion for coding and be able to talk to people at a technical level about designs and code.

You will be experienced in Agile software delivery and introducing Agile techniques, including test driven development (TDD) and test automation. You’ll have proven experience of influencing and steering technical decisions on commercial projects and have been involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle

The tech stack includes but is not limited to:

• Java, JBoss, Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Web Flow, JPA/Hibernate
• Strong Object Oriented design & programming skills
• Significant experience of microservice architectures (Messaging (AMQP), microservice Integration Patterns)
• Service Oriented Architectures: ReSTful, SOAP, Messaging (JMS, AMQP)
• Linux
• Core Web Development (XHTML, CSS, User Interface Design)
• Development of Rich Internet Applications e.g. Javascript, HTML5, XML
• Software Modelling & Design
• Relational Databases (e.g. Oracle)
