Technical Lead (Data / ETL)

Chesterfield (2 days per week)

£60,000 + company car + bonus

A prominent UK-based food manufacturer is seeking a skilled Technical Lead to join their technology team. This company plays a vital role in feeding 90% of the UK population every month, supplying own brand convenience food products to major retailers, foodservice providers, convenience stores, and travel outlets.

As the Technical Lead, you will be responsible for application integration and data pipelines. Your key accountabilities will include providing hands-on technical leadership, collaborating with internal and external developers to ensure successful delivery of interfaces and data pipelines. You will work closely with the architecture team to create technical specifications, challenge high-level designs when appropriate, and maintain documentation standards. Additionally, you will be involved in performance tuning, test framework implementation, investigating operational issues, and keeping up to date with industry trends.

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Supporting the architecture team to create specifications and meet requirements
  • Provide hands on support to developers to ensure successful delivery of data pipelines
  • Define and maintain documentation standards for interface/ data specifications
  • Design and develop DDL for middle tier database changes
  • Work alongside the test manager to implement data and integration test frameworks
  • Performance tune interface when needed, investigate any issues and identify solutions

Ideally, your skills and experience will include:

  • A Data Developer / Engineer or ETL Developer looking for a step up
  • Experience using ETL integration platform
  • Experience implementing change data capture tool (IBM CDC, SQL Server CDC)
  • Designing / developing REST APIs
  • Stream Processing frameworks (Spark, Storm, Flink, Stream Analytics, Kinesis, etc)
  • Comfortable managing projects and providing leadership
