Micro Focus is looking for an experienced hands-on Technical Environments Manager to provide knowledge and expertise to support our core IT Enterprise Application Stack. The Environments Manager will be joining the IT Build & Deliver function of Micro Focus, the candidate will bring governance and problem-solving guidance related to specific subject, business area, or technical areas on projects and BAU support.
The candidate should have technical acumen and should be flexible enough to adapt and seek out new technologies that make a difference to IT Environment and Deployment functions. Experience within ITIL framework and ITSM tools essential. The Roles primary objective is to be responsible for building Integrated environment stacks, including the refresh and maintenance for new projects/BAU projects and our regular Release cadence.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Environments Manager are to ensure that our Environment setups are configured correctly so that the projects/program’s deliverable(s) will meet the needs of the stakeholders, legislation, policies, standards, and best practices. To achieve this, the successful candidate will:
- Have hands-on experience of the maintenance and provisioning of environments and provide guidance to junior Environment members.
- Work closely with our business units, project teams and 3rd parties to assess and document Vendor SaaS release notes, upgrade path options and work towards building a common roadmap for our technologies.
- Recommend the best technical approach listing options and translates subject matter terminology into real business terms and convert into simplified language.
- Manage performance and monitoring tools for non-Production applications.
- Provide input to testing function, specifically around key decisions around Environment and technical components required to support technical solutions.
- Resolve issues relevant to project deliverable(s) within their area of expertise.
- Obtain approval for changes to rules, processes and policies across Production and Non-Production systems.
- Liaison with Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and establish connectivity from Micro Focus and our External systems.
- Participate in Vendor weekly update meetings, workshops, and technical design reviews.
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 10 or more years of IT Industry experience.
- Experience of working in E2E project delivery at an Enterprise level
- Strong hands-on technical experience or architectural knowledge of SaaS and PaaS platforms. Experience in Environment management of SalesForce, Oracle and Integration platforms extremely advantageous.
- Hands-on experience of tooling that provides automation in Code deployment, Environment refreshes and maintenance.
- Lead or worked on Cyber and Information security control (SOX, GDPR etc.) including compliance and exposure to delivering data masking functions.
- Knowledge of infrastructure architecture and design, both on-prem and transitional to cloud.
- Liaising with our wider Infrastructure teams to offer review, design and support of issues encountered including the ability to chair and lead WAR room discussions.
- Strong experience with environment management across complex landscapes.
- Experience of using defect and configuration management tooling such as ALM, Remedy, Jira.
