About The RoleBase Location: Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth or GlasgowSalary: £72,500 - £95,000 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableOur new Technical Engineering Manager role has been introduced to ensure effective management of the technical engineering expertise, quality, process and innovation within the project engineering team. The role will support the development of technical capability within the team and ensure that the project engineering team is at the cutting edge of technology while driving standardisation to help facilitate the expansive growth taking place across our network and the transition towards Net Zero.The Key Duties & Responsibilities Will Be- Managing and developing a team of Principal Engineers, covering a range of engineering specialisms including electrical (primary and secondary), civil, cable and OHLs, to drive excellence and innovation within the business.
- Driving process improvement and in house training programmes to enable more efficient delivery of projects and help accelerate the pace of engineering design during the development and execution phases to fast track the network growth required in the North of Scotland to deliver Net Zero.
- Leading a team of technical specialists to support and guide the project engineers in managing engineering risks and maximise opportunities to deliver value for money to the consumer.
- Leading a central CAD team to support our project portfolio as well as developing our growing digital modelling capabilities and BIM compliance.
- Coordinating the management of external engineering consultancy frameworks and their performance.
- Strong experience in leading, developing and managing high performing engineering teams with a focus on innovation and continual improvement.
- Qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably a Fellow or Chartered Engineer, with extensive experience in a similar environment but most importantly with a proven track record in successfully delivering change programmes.
- Strong technical engineering knowledge across the range of engineering disciplines and in the Electrical Transmission sector.
- As you’ll be liaising with a wide range of individuals, you’ll need to be able to understand and relay complex and technical messages in an easy to understand manner to other stakeholders, and have the ability to negotiate and influence effectively at all levels.
