We are nDreams, an award-winning independent developer and publisher, delivering world-leading interactive VR experiences.Our new fully remote studio nDreams Studio Orbital has just been announced, and we’re looking for talented people to help pioneer development in live service games for VR that will entertain players for years.

As Technical Director, you will be hiring and mentoring a diverse team of developers to create genre leading games. You will make the key technology decisions to realise our product vision and ensure the approach taken is pragmatic and future proof.
Your background in games development and experience of team building is what makes you an ideal candidate. The role will encompass ‘hands-on’ development and exploration whilst we scale the team, before progressing to leadership, management, and responsibility for the overall technical vision. You will ultimately be responsible for forging your department from scratch with the exciting possibilities that entails.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Build and shape the team. Hire, manage and mentor a team of developers.
- Evaluate, select and oversee the implementation of all studio technology.
- Define, implement and uphold best development processes & practices.
- Evaluate product requirements, raise technological risks and propose solutions.
- Work with the team to establish and own the production pipeline.
- Hands-on development and prototyping during the initial phase of studio growth.
- A self-starter able to forge both a fully functioning team and technology stack from the ground-up
- 7 years games industry experience, including at least 3 shipped titles (F2P, VR or AAA)
- A solid understanding of contemporary game engines and associated programming languages
- An experienced people manager, able to proactively identify problems, propose solutions and enable their team to be the best
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment and responsive to change in the face of uncertainty
- Knowledge of the technology required to build and operate live games highly beneficial
- A diverse and all-round knowledge of the games industry and technological trends
