Arcus is seeking a Technical Director to effectively manage the delivery of a wide range of environment projects and p rovide a high level of project management/environment knowledge and experience, and apply this both to existing Arcus clients and new business areas.

What You Will Be Doing

Consultancy
  • Provide expert environmental consultancy services
  • Technical direction of complex projects
  • Facilitate the delivery projects from inception to construction, including pre and post planning submission, post consent and condition discharge
  • Actively promote technical knowledge, best practice and emerging techniques, through working groups and relevant bodies
  • Manage projects, teams and sub-consultants to ensure projects are delivered to schedule and budget
  • Act as Expert Witness
  • Manage, coordinate and liaise with in-house specialists as well as sub-consultants, developers, the public and other relevant bodies
  • Provide specific and strategic advice to clients
  • Maintain knowledge of environmental and planning legislation and the requirements of the planning system
  • Financial control and budgeting responsibility as project manager
  • Review the work of others to ensure high quality output
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of complex technical documents as well as smaller reports and other deliverables
  • Understand and fulfil the requirements of Arcus’ Integrated Management System
  • Adhere to Arcus Health and Safety systems and procedures and take reasonable measures to ensure your own Health and Safety and that of co-workers
  • Represent the company at client meetings, conferences and other events
  • Represent clients at meetings with consultees and the public
  • Prepare and/or assist with tender submissions for new projects
  • Provide advice and support to junior members of staff
  • Undertake any other duties considered reasonable within the scope and purpose of the post as may be instructed by the line manager Business Development
  • Regularly discuss capabilities with service teams in target areas to ensure opportunities are maximised
  • Identify appropriate employees to make client contact
  • Promote a Business Development orientated philosophy throughout the Company
  • Monitor success (or otherwise) of initiatives and modify accordingly
  • Make recommendations for, and input to, website modifications and marketing material
  • Modify time input depending on chargeability and requirements of Line Manager
This position may involve some travelling with occasional overnight stays away from home.
