Technical Architect / Architectural Technologist

Do you lean towards the technical side of life whilst being inspired by contemporary and sustainable design? Do you enjoy organising contractors and getting into the details of a built project from the earliest stages? Are you looking for recognition for your skills or maybe you just want to enjoy a coastal lifestyle within a creative studio?

We are an Exmouth based award winning practice providing a contemporary and sustainable transdisciplinary approach within the Living, Leisure and Learning sectors. We are a busy team currently set up to work both remotely or studio-based on both design and site based projects. This is a new position and we are looking for someone with 3 - 5 years experience post qualification.

You’ll put us to shame with your in-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and ideally you’ll understand BIM workflows and have experience using Vectorworks as a platform.

The successful candidate must be experienced in co-ordinating multiple tasks while responding to changing deadlines. With a varied workload time management, communication and organisational skills are essential. We are looking for a technically biased Architect or Technologist who will be effective and efficient in the day-to-day operation of our office.

Skills Required

  • Experience of working on residential/listed buildings - new build and extensions..
  • Proficient detailing and specification skills,
  • Keen knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction methods.

• Fast, efficient accurate 2D CAD as a minimum. 3D visualisation a clear advantage.

• Be comfortable working with new and existing buildings.

• Ability to produce clear working drawings and NBS specifications to a consistently high standard.

• The ability to take responsibility, meet deadlines, to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as your role may require you to liaise with contractors/consultants on a day to day basis.

• IT literate (we are Mac based - Pages, Numbers + Outlook)

• Proactive in identifying issues or problems.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for a professional environment

• Punctual, driven, self-motivated and confident

• Good working knowledge of Adobe Indesign and Photoshop

• Clean driving license

• A self starter, helpful and positive, willing to get involved in a wide variety of tasks and projects

• Strong attention to detail

• Not afraid to challenge the mediocre and improve our design offering.
