This role will take on direct responsibility for leading the department that will be creating a new technology platform to power the way we handle online multiplayer racing on our games and simulations. We’ll be creating a new way to interact with online racing to ensure multiplayer racing is delivered in a fun and engaging way.

This new system will be need to developed almost entirely from scratch and will have to interface with our games to collect and store data, as well as provide functionality and insights to gamers and our internal marketing and competition teams.

Reporting to VP of Competition, you’ll need to be experienced in delivering large, complex web applications or ecosystems with a background as ether a software architect or full-stack developer. You’ll be primarily tasked with creating the development strategy for the product, including determining technology stacks and development pathways whilst working to manage a small dedicated team to create the system as well as liaising internally to our game studios to ensure integration success.

Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a development team
  • Work using agile methodology to create a product that reflects the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders
  • Run daily stand ups, create roadmaps, sprint planning and milestones
  • Have a hands-on approach to development
  • Liaise with our QA department to ensure produced code is thoroughly tested before deployment
  • Focus on security to keep data and products safe
  • Keep up-to-date with emerging web and development trends
  • Ensure all output is thoroughly commented and documented
  • Keeping key stakeholders up-to-date with progress
  • Track activities in Jira and Confluence

Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical development
  • At least 2 years working at a senior or lead level
  • Knowledge of web technologies to evaluate the tech stack upon to build (e.g. Golang, gRPC, Ruby, NodeJS, PostgreSQL etc.)
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Be able to lead a small team to achieve the desired objectives with previous experience in management a bonus
  • Highly experienced in planning and well-organised with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong aptitude for problem-solving
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong leadership, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Self-motivated with a great work ethic
  • Enjoyment and passion for racing games or simulations a positive attribute but not essential
