We support British food and farming and operate a successful programme of waste reduction and resource efficiency across our whole business.In addition to your salary you will receive a comprehensive training program, 25 days annual leave holiday entitlement, the ability to buy additional annual leave, retail discounts, free car parking, subsidised staff restaurant, free turkey (or voucher) at Christmas and much more !The department and teamThe main purpose of the Packing Team Leader (Grade 7) is to manage the day to day performance - (with 17 direct reports) of the Packing Department delivering plan completion; controlling costs and ensuring that KPI targets are achieved.   • Working towards departmental KPI’s; Right first time, 100% plan attainment, labour, waste & efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to rules, procedures & standards in regard to managing your team and their absences (up to level 2 cautions).
  • Identify & facilitate ways for team members to develop and arrange their training keeping up to date records on the department matrix.
  • Planning labour week to week and ordering agency staff as required.
  • Undertake ‘Intermediate Food Hygiene’ training a pass level must be obtained, take an active role in implementing 5 S methods and actively promote continuous improvement in hygiene standards by adopting a ‘clean as you go policy’.
  • Completing documentation; all KPI information, complete devaluation forms as require, ensure all production documents are completed (as appropriate).
  • All CCP sheets must be completed accurately, start-up sheets, H&S checks, temperature documentation and carry out or participate in audits
  • H&S; Ensure compliance with business H&S policies, ensure accurate H&S records, thorough accident reporting and investigation, keep accidents to a minimum by adopting good house-keeping and ‘clean as you go’, create a safety awareness culture e.g. through training, actively participate in departmental risk assessments, undertake formal H&S training made available through the business.
  • Ensure clear lines of communication by actively encouraging feedback from team with open and honest discussions on production targets and Conduct daily reviews of performance with team in order to drive improvements, labour and material utilisation.
  • Stock control; Ensure items on hold in palletiser are kept to a minimum (organise necessary action to resolve ‘on hold’ stock) and ensure that labels are available and the label room is kept tidy and well organized
  • Other key points; Help the business be environmentally friendly by ensuring that waste is segregated appropriately so it can be sent to the correct point of disposal/recycling and by keeping waste to a minimum (e.g. making products right first time). Have a can-do attitude; will try to learn other tasks in the department if required. Promote good team work – help others. “It’s not my job” does not promote good team work. Have a desire to help the team meet the department targets, and undertake any training made available/organized.
  • Continuous improvement of technical and hygiene standards.
Essential
  • Good standards of English and Math’s
  • Basic computer skills in word and excel

  • Level 3 Food Safety
  • IOSH Managing Safety, Behavioral Safety
