Job Introduction

Fixed Term Contract – Up to 12 Months

At Turning Point we provide services across the whole country which delivers end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support, family services, housing advice and support for those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle exchange system, and custody outreach. We are a specialist in delivering whole treatment system approaches across cities and county areas, which has led to the reduction in people falling through gaps between services and delivers improved outcomes.

Role Responsibility

As a Team Leader within the Medway service you will be part of a busy team. You will manage the outreach team and be part of a wider team of recovery workers holding caseloads of substance using clients. Your role will entail being out in the community offering support and training others in the outreach team. you will be expected to work closely with individuals presenting severe and multidisciplinary needs, your experience will be paramount in working closely in the community and your knowledge of the different substances people use. You will provide line management to a number of staff and support them to provide high quality psychosocial interventions leading to successful outcomes for service users. A track record of delivering this previously will greatly support your application.

You will have experience in and a passion for working with substance users and understand the importance of meeting regulatory requirements within the service.

Partnership working will play an important role in your day to day work and you will have experience in building and maintaining excellent relationships with local and national organisations to support the work of the service. Internally you will work closely with other managers and staff from teams across the service.

Exceptional organisational skills are essential for this pivotal role in a very busy service.

  • Ability to build relationships with voluntary and charity sectors who provide services and support for those with severe and multiple disadvantages.
  • An understanding of the issues faced by homeless, rough sleeping and socially isolated/vulnerable people with complexities and needs.
  • Caseload management of a complex nature
  • The ability to converse at ease with people adapting communication style to suit various abilities.
  • Able to deliver service user support in a person- centred way in the community for better outcomes for the individual.
  • Demonstrable skills and knowledge in assessing risk presented by service users to themselves and others
  • Harm reduction, suicide and self-harm awareness
  • Wide and flexible range of service user interventions
  • Management of incidents of a violent or aggressive nature
  • Be able to update and manage patient management systems, updating in the community.
  • Offer advice and information and well as forms treatment provision in the community.
  • Demonstrable experience of being able to motivate and engage with service users who are chronically and socially excluded from mainstream society and services.
  • Ability to be creative and innovative with support options, and propose ideas/suggestions to increase service engagement.
