Based in West Lothian, our client is a niche manufacturing business with a blue chip, global client base. Continued commercial success means their business is now seeking to hire a Team Leader to compliment the current team. The Team Leader will play a critical role in achieving business objectives, by ensuring overall management of Design Engineers, ensuring quality and efficiency of work against performance targets.

Through effective management, planning and continuous improvement you will support the Design team in ensuring design projects are delivered on time, on budget and exceed client expectations.

Job description

The purpose of this role is to lead and develop the design engineers in order to achieve business objectives.

Key Objectives of the Role

  • Responsible for the Design processes, ensuring quality of work, efficiency of processes and performance against set targets.
  • Team management, such as performance against budget, monitoring and creation of individual development plans, lead recruitment tasks when required, holidays, overtime, and absences management.
  • Plan weekly, monthly, quarterly workload in accordance with multiple projects timeline, balancing available resources.
  • Promote excellence within department keeping the Design Engineer role challenging expanding the team’s competences and technical knowledge.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent workload management skills such as resources scheduling, capacity planning and people management.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills, fostering a constructive and positive working environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities with great interpersonal skills as multiple stakeholders require updates and information.
  • Being able to quickly react to unplanned events, taking decisions swiftly on changing workload priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to self-manage and produce outputs or information with little guidance.

This role would be suited to a candidate with excellent management experience, with a track record of mentoring and developing a team and be able to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure design decisions align to objectives. Experience of product design from initial concept to manufacturing would be advantageous.
