The Cook Freeze Production Unit at Royal Alexandra Hospital is looking to recruit a highly motivated and assertive individual to join the Cook Freeze Food Production Team. You will be able to follow instructions from line management and be able to produce food to the highest standard using defined recipe ingredients and methods. It is essential that you are qualified and certificated to SVQ Professional Cookery level 2 or City & Guilds 706/2/3 and be trained in all aspects of food safety where you are qualified to at least Intermediate Level awarded by R.E.H.I.S or a similar awarding body. It is also essential that that you have a working knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and Supervisory responsibilities around this, in particular around COSHH legislation and practice, Manual Handling regulations and Infection Control legislation in a busy Catering Production unit or large scale catering facility. It is therefore essential that supervisory experience has been gained previously in a busy food production kitchen. You will be expected to prioritise your own delegated workload. You will have the ability to work with others within the team and ensure CFPU service provision is maintained to the highest of standards in line with all relevant CFPU policies and procedures. You will be involved in the CFPU Production Unit from the delivery of commodities through to production and finished products. This will include working in freezer temperatures for long periods of time, also food orders dispatch to satellite units ensuring that appropriate orders and paperwork is accurate for filing and audit inspection by authorised personnel. You will supervise CFPU staff daily in relation to their allocated food production roles/duties, highlighting and contributing to training requirements by ensuring full compliance with departmental working practice and legislation. You will be an excellent communicator as it is vital that regular dialogue takes place with CFPU Management, Team Manager and Team Leaders as well as catering assistant staff to ensure that current standards are maintained and improved wherever possible. You will contribute and participate in regular meetings with management and service users. The shift pattern is 7.5 hours daily Mon to Fri - (Flexishifts between 7am and 5pm - as advised by Team Manager to support service needs).
