A multidisciplinary service redesign has resulted in a new and exciting opportunity at King’s for an experienced, highly skilled Occupational Therapist to take a leadership role in the Neuro-rehabilitation Spasticity Management service based at Orpington Hospital. The safe running of this service requires an expert multidisciplinary team where the different disciplines work both autonomously and collaboratively within a detailed clinical governance framework.

This is a specialised clinical post, working primarily in the outpatient setting and we are looking for candidates with skills in Spasticity Management, as well as a broad Neuro-rehabilitation knowledge and skill set. The post holder will provide clinical leadership & supervision to occupational therapy staff working in the Multidisciplinary Neuro-rehabilitation service at Orpington and in collaboration with other occupational therapists and the multi-disciplinary team, will contribute to the management of spasticity in inpatient settings at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Denmark Hill.

The post holder will oversee the day-to-day delivery of the occupational therapy caseload in the Neuro-rehabilitation Spasticity management service to ensure high quality care (i.e. safe, effective and efficient) with a good patient experience reported and strong clinical governance. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Neuro-rehabilitation Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinic Administrative team and the Therapy Leadership team to establish and develop this service and lead on service improvement and delivery.

With proven skills in team leadership, the post holder must have excellent clinical communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to communicate effectively with service stakeholders, as well as teach and develop staff and students of all grades working within the service.

The post holder will be encouraged and supported to develop their clinical, teaching, research and managerial skills. A cohesive team approach is maintained within the occupational therapy neurosciences team through an established in-service training program.

King’s College NHS Foundation Trust has a large Therapy department with 500+ therapists from Occupational Therapy; Physiotherapy; Speech and Language Therapy; Dietetics and Nutrition professions. Each service is led by a Professional Head and Therapies are represented across the Trust by the Chief of Therapies, Rehabilitation & Integrated Clinical Services. King’s offers an excellent learning environment with an easy access to the Medical School library, the Internet and other training facilities.

You must have a degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health Care Professions Council is essential for this post.
