Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients . We are rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commision and are looking for staff who want to be a part of us becoming ‘outstanding.’ Willen Hospice is the leading provider of specialist palliative care within the area. In addition to our 15 bed In-Patient unit and Community Nursing provision, we have an expanding Therapeutic & Wellbeing service offering Psychology & Counselling, Social Care, Therapies including Physiotherapy, Complementary & Occupational Therapy and Spiritual Care.

The Chaplaincy Team are proud of the contributions they have made to patients and staff during such an unsettling time and wish to build on this by working with Willen Hospice to provide the highest quality of care and support for all people of all faiths and none. The applicant must be of good standing within their faith or belief community and be enthusiastic about delivering pastoral, spiritual and religious care in the hospice and hospital settings.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a creative approach to working as part of a multi-faith and belief team and be willing to undertake an on-call commitment. Any candidate applying should have sufficient experience of palliative and end of life care to offer sensitive and safe religious, spiritual and pastoral care to patients, relatives, friends and carers, and to members of staff – whether these are persons of faith or not.

This role is demanding and the successful candidate will need to be emotionally intelligent and able to work within clear boundaries so as to be able to manage difficult situations whilst acting as a reflective practitioner. Travel between hospital and hospice sites will be part of this role, so you will need to be able to achieve this in a timely manner.

We would like to encourage all applicants to make contact before applying and will do our best to facilitate visits where capacity allows. You can arrange to do this by contacting:

Revd Sarah Crane, Lead Chaplain on 01908 996062 or email at sarah.crane@mkuh.nhs.uk

We will be implementing a two-stage interview process. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to give a presentation to a panel via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 18th August.

Following that face to face interviews may be offered to successful candidates on Wednesday 25th August.
