JOB PURPOSETo support the roll out of the Warwick ELectrification Deployment (WELD) Project’s new educational programmes, including MScs, outreach and industrial sessions. To undertake development, delivery and administration of teaching and learning in the Discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the unified School of Engineering at the University of Warwick. To support teaching, learning and assessment activities including lectures, tutorials, laboratories and practicals. To enhance the School’s teaching reputation, both internally and externally, and contribute to the development of high quality teaching and student experience in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.Research And ScholarshipDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESFor Both Teaching Fellow And Assistant Professor (Teaching) Roles

Additional For Assistant Professor (Teaching) Role
  • May conduct individual or collaborative scholarly projects.
  • May be called upon to contribute to the identification of sources of funding and the process of securing funds for scholarly activities.
  • Extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities.
  • Develop and produce learning materials and disseminate the results of scholarly activity.
Teaching And Learning SupportFor both Teaching Fellow and Assistant Professor (Teaching) roles:
  • Teach as a member of a teaching team in a developing capacity within and established programme of study, with the assistance of a mentor if required.
  • Develop own teaching and laboratory materials, methods and approaches
  • Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
  • Ensure that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning objectives.
  • Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
  • Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.
Additional For Assistant Professor (Teaching) Role
  • Design teaching material and deliver either across a range of modules or within a subject area.

  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, field trips and, placements, where appropriate.

Administration and Other Activities

For Both Teaching Fellow And Assistant Professor (Teaching) Roles
  • To contribute to School of Engineering committees and administrative duties and tasks.
  • Undertake duties related to course administration, such as attendance records, etc.
  • Attend departmental meetings whenever possible.
  • May be expected to assist in the preparation of proposals or applications to external bodies.
  • To support and comply with the University and School of Engineering teaching quality assurance standards and procedures, including the provision of such information as may be required by the School or the University.
  • To ensure compliance with Health and Safety, and other University regulations and good working practices in all aspects of work.
  • Work within budget constraints.
  • Act as a personal tutor.
Additional For Assistant Professor (Teaching) Role
  • Participate in and develop internal and external networks, for example may contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.
  • Be responsible for the pastoral care of students within a specified area.
  • Undertake specific departmental roles as may be required.

The duties and responsibilities outlined are for guidance on the main aspects of the job. The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their duties and undertake any other duties as directed by the line manager or School’s Management Team. Occasional weekend, evening and overseas working may be required, in turn the School offers flexible working where possible.

Essential Criteria 1Good honours degree (minimum 2:1) and postgraduate qualification or equivalent (or nearing completion) e.g. equivalent industrial experience, in a relevant discipline.
