Teaching Assistant - SEMH Immediate start Worcestershire £70-£75 a day GSL Education is working closely with a SEMH School based on the outskirts of Worcestershire. The school is looking for a SEMH/SEN Teaching Assistant to work alongside year 4/5 children. You will be working with 9 children with SEMH and Challenging Behaviour. This role is to commence immediately and potentially continue next year as well. The school is a community special school which is a very happy and dynamic place to learn in. All members of the school community are actively encouraged to work together to meet the aims of our school and to ensure that each child receives the best possible education, developing the skills and attitudes to continue learning as a life-long activity. It caters to 5-11 years old children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties with associated learning difficulties. The person must: Be able to handle challenging behaviour in a calm and structured manner and embed a rigorous timetable to enlighten children’s enjoyment in their education and progress their attainment in this vital learning period. Be Team Teach trained. Be able to implement learning plans to ensure learning is engaging and structured. Have a patient and understanding demeanour and be resilient to challenging behaviour. Be a strong leader who can influence, in a positive way, and encourage the re-engagement of education. Be available immediately. Have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) registered to the Update Service. – If you don’t already have a DBS, we can help you apply for one. Up to date Safeguarding Certificate (We offer CPD training should you require it). Be committed to a long term role.Previous experience within an education environment is not necessary, however, we do specify that you are either a university graduate or you have experience working with any of the following:
  • Sports coaching
  • Drama/Theatre/Music workshops
  • Support work within a supported living/residential environment
  • Youth Offending/Youth work
  • Mentoring
