The Governors of the Carrdyke Federation wish to appoint a teaching assistant (30 hours a week) from September. This post will be permanent on the successful completion of a probationary period.

Walcott is a small rural school that is part of a federation with Mrs Mary King’s Church of England Primary school in the village of Martin.

The job role will be to support learning in both KS1 and KS2 classes during the week as needed.


We have a higher than average percentage of children with special educational needs including several with EHCP’s, this appointment is part of a plan to create a more flexible and adaptive team that can provide both general classroom support and more specialised interventions for children with more complex needs.

The suitable candidate will need to be flexible and able to adapt to working in different ways to meet pupil need. They will need to be a warm caring person who is able to support other team members and be keen to contribute to the wider school community.

Experience of working with children with autism or behavioural SEND would be desirable along with skills in pastoral support.

Previous experience of the KS2 curriculum and supporting learning in maths would be an advantage.
