The role of a Teaching Assistant is to provide support for pupils, teachers and other staff in order to:

  • Raise standards of achievement for all pupils
  • Encourage pupils to become more independent learners
  • Provide support for their emotional, social, and physical welfare
  • Support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life
  • To work under the direction of the line manager, class teachers, and other staff to support the learning of whole classes, selected groups or individuals as instructed
  • To study relevant qualifications while you earn

About the employer

Oasis Academy Henderson Avenue is situated to the north of Scunthorpe town centre. The original school was built in 1913 and was a traditional Victorian school bulding. It has a long and illustrious history with the actress Joan Plowright, the golfer Tony Jacklin and the England Football Manager Graham Taylor being some of the old boys and girls who started their schooling here.

We are an inclusive Academy for children aged between 4 and 11, committed to delivering first-class education and playing an active role in the local community. The largest primary school in the town, Oasis Academy Henderson Avenue has places for 588 children in the main school and 78 in our Nursery.
